Rosalie Evelyn (Jeffreys) Schwisow, age 82, of Friend, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Friend Community Healthcare System on October 23, 2023, while recovering from a hip replacement surgery. Rosalie was born to John and Velma (Goings) Jeffreys on October 25, 1940. She was the youngest of four children blessed to that marriage.
Rosalie grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, for much of her childhood and graduated from North High School in 1959. She would spend summer vacations at her aunt and uncle’s farm near Daykin, Nebraska. It was at the farm that she met the love of her life, Willis W. Schwisow.
Rosalie and Willis married on December 28, 1959, and they welcomed three children to their union: Phyllis, Susan, and Rick. They made their home on a farm just outside of Friend. Besides being a farm wife, Rosalie spent 10 years working at the Friend Country Club as a waitress and 16 years working at Warren Memorial Hospital as a cook.
Rosalie was a member of the Turkey Creek Homemakers as well as the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 183 for several years and an active member of the LWML at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cordova, Nebraska. Rosalie enjoyed playing cards and games, camping, reading, gardening, and keeping local wildlife fed (especially birds, rabbits, and squirrels). She volunteered at H.A.T.S and was active at her church and in the community.
Rosalie was loved dearly and will be deeply missed by many.
